Love. It’s a word that is used a lot and in a lot of different ways. But what is love and, more specifically as a Christian, what is a Biblical understanding of love?
We can often hear the phrase, “God is love” but what does that mean? Too often we take a cultural understanding of love and then apply that to God. So however we define love, that is then how we define who God is. But I think that’s the opposite direction from the way things should flow.
Rather, because God is love, we should be looking toward God’s character and allowing who He is to define what love is. So God becomes our definition and our source for what love looks like, rather than us defining God by whatever we believe love is.
So over the next few posts I want to take time to delve into the Bible, to look at God in action, and see what love is.
Looking forward to it, Jason!
